Attorney Michael Cheroutes Jr. is a Denver native and second-generation attorney who has practiced exclusively in the area of domestic relations law since being admitted to the Colorado Bar in 2003. Graduating in the top 10% of his class at what is now the Texas A&M School of Law, Mike was the first student to be simultaneously honored by his professors with the prestigious Boulware Student of the Year award and elected by his classmates to serve as Hooding Speaker.
After working at two of Colorado's top family law firms, Mike reunited with friend and former partner Alexandra White in January of 2018; accepting an Of Counsel position with her firm. Like Alex, Mike has on multiple occasions received recognition for excellence in the practice of family law in the form of 5280's Super Lawyer's Rising Star Award; and has served on the boards of several organizations including Metro Volunteer Lawyers.
A devoted husband and father of three, Mike recognizes the extent to which a divorce touches upon all aspects of a person's life. In addition, and unlike many practitioners, Mike does not believe that financial issues are wholly independent of children's issues, as there is a direct relationship between a parent's financial security and his or her ability to provide for, and be available to, the children who depend upon them.
Where parental responsibilities are at stake, Mike does not regard himself to be a "father's attorney" or a "mother's attorney," but instead an advocate for the rights and well-being of the children involved. Mike also embraces his role as "counselor," believing that effective representation involves more than just strong writing and courtroom skills, but also the ability to help his clients through the emotional aspects of what can be one of life's greatest challenges.
