Ben and Jen Reportedly Putting Family First in Wake of Divorce

Many people here in Colorado and around the world were saddened to hear that Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck had decided to end their decade-long marriage. It's perfectly normal to root for celebrities we've never met when they seem like nice people who were meant for each other.

There's been some good news in the wake of the divorce announcement that will likely hearten fans and be an inspiration for other divorcing couples. The two, by all accounts, are remaining amicable and focusing on what's best for their three children. The family is now reportedly vacationing together in the Bahamas, at least in part to have their children out of the country where they could more easily avoid the media frenzy in the aftermath of the Hollywood power couple's divorce announcement. They have two daughters, ages 6 and 9, and a 3-year-old son.

Even when the vacation is over, the two reportedly intend to remain in close proximity -- very close. Affleck is said to be planning to stay on the grounds of their property, but in separate living quarters.

Rumors of the couple's impending break-up have swirled around them for a while, but the timing of the divorce seems to have been thought out. The announcement came just a day after their 10-year anniversary. In their joint statement, the two said that they plan to "go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children."

While Affleck and Garner certainly have more resources than most of us, a multimillion-dollar net worth is not required to make a commitment to an amicable divorce and to be good parents for the children. That does not, however, mean that you have to negotiate away what you and your children need and deserve. That's why experienced legal guidance is crucial.
